If you were a fan of the original Abu Garcia 506 MkII but you wanted something a little more powerful to cope with slightly heavier duty lures then this 507 MkII is the reel for you. Built to the same high standards as the other Abu Garcia reels in the MkII range, the Abu 507 is constructed from an advanced polymeric body and is fitted with an aluminium front cone. This front cone ensures that the body of the reel is held perfectly rigid when you’re casting weighty lures or reeling in a hard fighting predator fish. The body of the reel keeps the weight of the reel low, ensuring that it sits perfectly on any lure fishing rod and is comfortable to manoeuvre for several hours.

The Abu 507 MkII benefits from Abu Garcia’s unique patented Carbon Matrix Drag system. This system has revolutionised drag technology and over the years since its release many other brands have brought out their own carbon drag mimics. None have lived up to the performance of the original and it remains the strongest, smoothest, and most consistent drag system on the market. This is the ideal companion for when you want to cast with precision and it ensures that you’re able to draw in all of the most aggressive of opponents with ease. The five bearings at work in the reel maintain the reel’s smooth performance throughout its extended life – keeping friction and premature wear and tear at bay.

To ensure you experience solid hooksets each time a fish takes your lure, the Abu 507 MkII has been fitted with an on/off anti-reverse switch. When engaged, this switch ensures that you don’t experience any rearward backplay. However, unlike other anti-reverse systems, this reel gives you the option to deactivate the switch – a feature that has proved usual for anglers in a variety of scenarios time and time again. The handle of the reel is completely ambidextrous and it comes supplied with a spare spool as standard, for ultimate bankside versatility.
